CUBBIES: 3-4 year olds
WELCOME TO CUBBIES
The Cubbies Club is for children who are 3 years old (by Sept. 1) and for young 5s
We are thrilled to have your child participate with us in Awana Cubbies. We are thankful that you have allowed us the privilege of working with your child each Wednesday night and appreciate the importance of the early informative years in your child’s development. We are confident that you will see progress in the spiritual, social, mental and physical aspects of your child’s life as a result of the Awana Cubbies Program.
BRIEF PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Cubbies curriculum features two handbooks written in a fun, storybook style that appeals to preschoolers. The handbooks contain 24 Bear Hug sections along with six optional special-day sections. Each section combines basic Scripture memory with parent-child activities to help a child grasp a simple biblical truth. All material is presented at a level appropriate for 3-4 year olds. Before starting a handbook, newcomers to Cubbies are taken through an introductory brochure.
BEAR HUG BROCHURE
This Free Introduction Brochure will be issued to your child on his/her first club night. It will give parents & children a brief overview of the program and presents God’s plan for salvation at a preschooler’s level. It is required and expected to be completed in two weeks from the date issued. Upon completion, your child may proceed into our club Handbook and start on the actual Bear Hug the club is currently preparing for. (This Brochure is issued and reviewed at the beginning of each club year in Cubbies.) Replacement of the Bear Hug Brochure is $.25 each if lost.
BEAR HUG COMPLETION PROGRESS
Bear Hugs are sections in the Hopper Celebration Handbook and Jumper Celebration Handbook. Be sure our secretary issues to you a copy of our current Bear Hug Completion Schedule. This schedule is vital and will assist you as a parent/guardian, in determining which Bear Hug in our handbook is scheduled for completion by your child each week. We encourage you to have you child begin the current Bear Hug scheduled next for completion, after they complete the Bear Hug Brochure and not before. There are a total of 24 Bear Hugs to be completed to earn a Book Award and Parent Diploma. Special Day Bear Hugs are extra credit and scheduled for holidays or events, etc. “Under the Apple Tree” segments are review and extra credit. We encourage doing these. The goal is for each Cubby to complete 1 Handbook per year.
HANDBOOKS & UNIFORM VEST
Handbooks (Hopper Celebrations or Jumper Celebrations) and Uniform Vests are available for purchase immediately after registering your child. We suggest getting a size larger for you child since they will need it for 2 years at least. Combined cost for these items is approx. $18.00 per child. Handbooks, however, cannot be started until the Bear Hug Brochure is completed first! Vests are to be worn each club night without exception.

CLUB DUES
Dues are collected weekly, but preferred to be paid seasonally. Cost is $.50 weekly or $15.00 for season. Funds raised by dues are strictly used to purchase Awards only, but are not for replacement awards!
DROP OFF & PICK UP
Drop-Off is encouraged from 6:15 – 6:30pm
Cubbies are to be dropped off at the Cubbies’ table in the gym by the north side entrance.
Please make sure you check your child in for attendance and safety purposes.
Pick-Up will be at 8:15pm in Room # 207 by the Fellowship Hall.
Cubbies are to be picked-up ONLY by their parent/guardian (Older Siblings are no exception) each club night unless other arrangements have been set with the Cubby Director.
SNACKS
Please take a few minutes to sign up for an evening of snacks. The sign-up folder will be on the sign-in table each Wednesday night. Please avoid items that contain peanut oil or such bi-products. This due to the fact that more often we have a Cubbie or two who are allergic to these food items. Also we ask for no messy chocolate, as this is very difficult to clean up (not only the children but also due to housekeeping).
*When preparing and purchasing for snacks please plan on an average of 25 children. If you wish to include the Cubbies’ Staff, then please add approx. 6, making a total of 31
