PUGGLES: 2-3 year olds
WELCOME TO PUGGLES
The Puggles Club is for children who are 2 – 3 years old and for those children of Awana Leaders and those who attend Bible / Prayer Meetings on Wednesday Nights.
In many circles, ‘puggle’ is a common term for a baby platypus. In children’s ministry circles, Awana Puggles is an enriching program for your pre-Cubbies kids that presents basic biblical concepts:
- We are a unique creation of God.
- God loves us very much.
We are thrilled to have your child participate with us in Awana Puggles. We are thankful that you have allowed us the privilege of working with your child each Wednesday night and appreciate the importance of the early informative years in your child’s development. We are confident that you will see progress in the spiritual, social, mental and physical aspects of your child’s life as a result of the Awana Puggles Program.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The teaching for the Awana Puggles program is built around four precepts:
- God made everything,
- God saw that it was good,
- God is love
- Giving thanks to God.
The four precepts are spread across 32 teaching cards for lesson times. These lessons are easy for toddlers to understand. Each week features a theme around one of the precepts and related core verses: Genesis 1:1closeGenesis 1:1

. Take-home cards help parents reinforce lesson concepts in simple ways throughout the week. They also encourage the whole family to learn about God together.
Awana Puggles teaches toddlers simple lessons through teaching cards, activities, music and more. Awana Puggles leaders have a leader’s guidebook to help them plan and direct club time and communicate the lesson. Then parents ‘an Awana Puggles first and best teacher’ can step in to reinforce the lessons with take-home cards that include ideas to point out God’s work each day. And little details like Awana Puggles T-shirts, puzzles and coloring books make every precious child feel like part of the group.
DROP OFF & PICK UP
DROP-OFF is encouraged from 6:30 – 6:45pm
- Puggles are to be dropped off in the Nursery Room, the Toddler side, by the Main Office
- Please make sure you check your child in for attendance and safety purposes.
- Please fill out a tag for the child and their diaper bag (if they have one)
- You will be given a Pager to carry in case we need to have you respond back to the Nursery.
- If your pager vibrates please respond back to the Nursery ASAP.
PICK-UP will be at 8:00 – 8:15pm
- Please come to the door with the pager, and your Puggle and diaper bag will be given to you.
- Puggles are to be picked-up only by their parent/guardian (Older Siblings are no exception) each Wed. night unless other arrangements have been made with the Puggles Director.
This is the COVENANT that we want to make with you:
The bottom line is that you (the parent or guardian) visibly release your children into our care and at the end of AWANA we visibly release them back to you.
REGISTRATION
A Registration Sheet is to be filled out by the Puggle’s parent/guardian upon arrival on their child’s first club night. We ask that no parent/guardian leaves their child at club without this card being completed.
CLUB DUES
Dues are collected weekly, but preferred by our Commander to be paid yearly. Cost is $5.00 for season. Funds raised by dues are strictly used to purchase Awards only, but are not for replacement awards!
UNIFORM SHIRT
Uniform Shirts are available for purchase immediately after registering your child. We suggest getting a size larger for your child since they will need it for 2 years at least. The cost is $9.00 per child. The shirt is adorable and will help them be identified as Puggles.
SNACKS
Sometimes, during Club, there will be Snack Time for the Puggles. Parents are asked to provide snacks for the children on occasion. Please take a few minutes to sign up for an evening of snacks. Please avoid items that contain peanut oil or such bi-products. This due to the fact that more often we have a Puggle or two who are allergic to these food items. Also we ask that no messy chocolate as this is very difficult to clean up (not only the children but also due to housekeeping).
* When preparing and purchasing for snacks please plan on an average of 10 children. If you wish to include the Puggles’ Staff, then please add 2 for a total of 12.
NURSERY GUIDELINES
