SPARKS CLUB: K-2nd grade

WELCOME TO SPARKS

The Sparks’ Club is for children who are in Kindergarten through 2nd grade
We are thrilled to have your child participate with us in Awana Sparks. We are thankful that you have allowed us the privilege of working with your child each Wednesday night. We are confident that you will see progress in the spiritual, social, mental and physical aspects of your child’s life as a result of the Awana Sparks’ Program.

BRIEF PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Sparks Club meetings combine learning with fun to create an atmosphere of irresistible excitement for all kids alike. In Sparks, Awana builds on the material taught in our preschool club. The aim of the Sparks curriculum is to take youngsters a step deeper into God’s Word while giving children regular opportunities to hear the Gospel and come to faith in Jesus Christ. The Sparks Program is age appropriate and is firmly grounded in Scripture. The 3close1 Thessalonians 3 3:1 Therefore when we could bear it no longer, we were willing to be left behind at Athens alone, and we sent Timothy, our brother and God's coworker in the gospel of Christ, to establish and exhort you in your faith, that no one be moved by these afflictions. For you yourselves know that we are destined for this. For when we were with you, we kept telling you beforehand that we were to suffer affliction, just as it has come to pass, and just as you know. For this reason, when I could bear it no longer, I sent to learn about your faith, for fear that somehow the tempter had tempted you and our labor would be in vain. Timothy's Encouraging Report But now that Timothy has come to us from you, and has brought us the good news of your faith and love and reported that you always remember us kindly and long to see us, as we long to see you— for this reason, brothers, in all our distress and affliction we have been comforted about you through your faith. For now we live, if you are standing fast in the Lord. For what thanksgiving can we return to God for you, for all the joy that we feel for your sake before our God, 10 as we pray most earnestly night and day that we may see you face to face and supply what is lacking in your faith? 11 Now may our God and Father himself, and our Lord Jesus, direct our way to you, 12 and may the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all, as we do for you, 13 so that he may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his saints. (ESV) Handbooks (see below) feature basic truths about God, Jesus Christ, salvation and the Bible. In Sparks the children will find an increased emphasis on Scripture memory. In 3 years a child will learn and review 68 Bible verses which cover salvation and key Christian doctrine. Before starting a handbook newcomers are taken through an introductory brochure.

SPARKS GATE BROCHURE

This Free Introduction Brochure will be issued to your child on his/her first club night. It is will give parents & children a brief overview of the program and presents God’s plan for salvation at the appropriate age level. It is required and expected to be completed in 2-3 weeks from the date issued. Upon completion, your child may proceed into our club’s HangGlider Handbook and start on the actual Sparkie achievements. (This Brochure is issued and reviewed during the course of each club year in Sparks.) Replacement of the Sparks Gate Brochure is $.25 each if lost.

HANGGLIDER, HIKER & CLIMBER HANDBOOKS

The Review section is just that, review of what the child has completed.

The goal for each Sparkie is to complete one handbook per year.Cost for each of these books is $8.00 Handbooks, however, cannot be started until the Sparks Gate Brochure is completed first!
