Teens
OUR PURPOSE:
The purpose of our student ministry is to Love God and Love People. In Matthew 22:34-40, Jesus teaches us that the most important commandments are first and foremost loving God with everything we are, and secondly loving others as much as we love ourselves. We strive to do this in everything that we do.
OUR PROGRAMS:
IGNITE – Wednesdays 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.
Ignite is a worship experience designed just for teens. Each week we worship Christ through music and receive a challenging message from the Bible. After the service everyone is invited to hang out in our gym for a time of fun and activities.
KNOWN – Sundays 9:45 – 10:40 a.m.
The goal of KNOWN is for students to KNOW Christ, OWN their faith, and to make their faith KNOWN. This time of teaching and discipleship is discussion driven and will encourage students to take the next step in their faith.
THIRST – First Sunday of each month 5:00 – 6:00 p.m.
Matthew 5:6 says “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, because they will be filled.” Thirst is designed to help students reflect, refuel, and refocus on God. Thirst is made up of small groups that engage in a time of worship, prayer, discussion and accountability.
OUR PASTOR:
Doug Shelton has been the Minister of Students at Spring Hill Baptist Church since 2006. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Religious Education from Wayland Baptist University. Doug is enthusiastic about working with teens. He doesn’t see teens as the church of the future; he sees them as the church of today. He believes that this generation is going revolutionize how we live out our faith and love one another. Among other things Doug enjoys playing music, kayaking, golf, going to the beach, and movies. He is slightly addicted to the TV show “Lost.” If you ask him, he’ll be happy to share his theories with you.
